European Canvas Back Flank ( AKA Joe’s Smelt Feathers, “Maine Pintail” )

For years people have been asking for Joe’s Smelt feathers and these have been incorrectly labeled as  pintail. These are in fact Canvasback feathers that are used to make the famous streamers. These are quite rare and very hard to locate. We have located a source with old stock. These are actually threatened and no longer available. We are able to offer only rights and lefts no centers. Years ago my source sorted out the centers and sold only those, this is the remaining stock from many years in the fishing trade. When gone this is it. For those that tie commercially, sorry this the price. a dozen per pack. If I had matched centers these would sell for $10/pair, these are more rare than jungle cock. 

These must be trimmed in order for the fly to track correctly. The inside or good side is cut, I have included pictures showing how to cut the feathers to shape.

These are select feathers and contain no junk. The Medium are for size 6-8 hooks, the large are for size 2-4, some of the large sizes can do extra size 10xl hooks. I do not sort these other than large and medium.
